New info on Sonos

A Sonos multi room system can consist of both powered speakers like the PLAY:1, Sonos One, PLAY:5 and home cinema systems as well as passive, built in speakers and outdoor speakers. The first category all need individual power cables plugged into standard power sockets, while the passive range of speakers (In ceiling / in wall / outdoor) are wired to an AMP that powers them. So in this case the AMP is the only device that is plugged into a power socket and the speakers are powered through the speaker cables plugged into the AMP. You can wire up to three pairs of Sonance speakers with one AMP, but each AMP is then representing one zone in your multi room system, so you would need a separate AMP for each zone you want to control separately, or you can add stand alone speakers instead.
